Flowers
2nd Edition of the Glaze Painting Competition
Glaze Painting Competition 2026–2027
A free international digital painting competition created by Well of Art in collaboration with museum and cultural partners.
Participants create original artworks using the Glaze app - a digital painting studio inspired by traditional oil painting techniques.
Open to all skill levels across four age categories.
Free participation
Submission deadline: February 2027
Theme: Flowers
This year’s theme is inspired by flowers, still life painting, and observation of the natural world.
The project draws inspiration from the still life tradition that emerged during the Dutch Golden Age of painting - a time of scientific curiosity, botanical exploration, and symbolic storytelling through plants, insects, and everyday objects.
Flowers have continued to inspire artists ever since, from Vincent van Gogh and Georgia O’Keeffe to David Hockney.
Participants are invited to create original artworks inspired by:
flowers and plants
observation from life
local nature and culture
colour, texture, and detail
transformation, growth, and time
You can work realistically, experimentally, or imaginatively.
